Sagar was lost in his ex-girl friend, Preethi’s thoughts, startled by the howling of Cheran in the odd hour, he realized that Cheran is trying to please the gods in the early morning with possibly the most unpleasing voice he heard till that point. Cheran unmoved by Sagar’s stern looks, continued his rituals while Ravi seemed content in his dreams which possibly would about either Hyderabadi Biryani or some actress.
Sagar and his two roommates boarded a red bus near Majestic bus stand which is heading to Hosur road where their college is located, Sagar is more than 2000 kms away from the blue line killer buses on which he spent most of his life in Delhi, he felt nostalgic and was lost in his family thoughts, as he started thinking about purane dilli ka mashoor jalebiwallah and his friends with whom he used to hang out. The bus halted with a screech and a dark and spooky conductor simultaneously indicated the boys to get down and the driver to move.
Three of them got down hastily and stepped in to the campus. Out of the three Cheran seemed busy in pleasing gods with some so called puja and all chanting to himself with his eyes half closed, Ravi seemed confident of all but his eyes looked bleak and deep down under he is at the most critical phase of his life professionally and personally, while Sagar was neither confident like Ravi nor afraid like Cheran, rather confused and worried about many things that were spinning around his head, no doubt girls contributed majority of the worries Sagar had at that time.
The building smelled fresh paint and the classes looked clean for a purpose, walls and the campus seemed inviting the freshers and the staff sported a friendly look which did not suited them much. A middle aged, balding fatso greeted with a widest smile possible exhibiting pan stained teeth to the bunch of new joiners and spoke eloquently in heavily accented English from which some students managed to find out that he is Puneet, the administrative head of the college and took the freshers to a college tour and introduced them their classes, auditorium and other facilities including cafeteria which looked cozy and promising to many. Disinterested by the harbinger, Sagar was looking at the list of students which resembled passengers list stuck beside a train door and he involuntarily noticed the name Preethi.
Everything flashed before his eyes and he stood stoned but the name Preethi Rao had a different feel and Sagar is sure that the girl would be an interesting one. The crowd was not up to the expectation and few girls present there had no glitter. First class started and by the time their finance lecturer started explaining the sacredness of finance and other stuff a girl walked in to the class forcing many of the heads turn towards her, nonplussed teacher was given an assuring nod from the administrative head and the girl answered Preethi Rao to the question of the lecturer. She occupied a seat in the fourth row and sank in to the class while Sagar sank in to her thoughts…… Sagar is all set to explore the garden city and its beauties, strategy to break ice with the new Preethi in his life, cope with the extreme roommates and at the same time balance his studies……
